Meet Your Council Candidate: Michael Lamb
Michael, his wife Elaine, and their two daughters, Becca and Jackie, have proudly called Westlake home for over two decades. Both of their children attended Westlake City Schools, where they received an outstanding education and actively participated in the school’s band and choir programs.
From a young age, Mike learned the importance of hard work, attention to detail, and integrity. His father, a bricklayer, introduced him to job sites early in life, instilling in him the values of fairness and personal accountability expecting Mike to work alongside adults and hold his own.
Mike’s professional journey began in healthcare, providing compassionate patient care at a local hospital. While he found the work rewarding, his true calling was in the legal and criminal justice field. Determined to follow his passion, Mike returned to school to become a certified paralegal and was soon hired by the Cleveland Municipal Court as a Deputy Bailiff. Over five years, he served several judges as their Personal Bailiff, managing court operations and caseloads.
His dedication to public service led him to the Cleveland Police Department, where he was recognized with the Medal of Heroism and Officer of the Year awards. Mike later continued his law enforcement career with the Shaker Heights Police Department, where he conducted investigations, crime trend and traffic analyses, operational intelligence, dignitary protection, and extensive background checks for potential hires. He also remains actively involved in police leadership as Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #23.
While serving as a police officer, Mike also successfully owned and operated several small businesses, all while completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, graduating Magna Cum Laude, a testament to his drive and commitment.
After dedicating 25 years to public service in law enforcement, Mike transitioned to the private security sector. For the past six years, he has worked for a private organization, focusing on special projects, notably, he has collaborated with the company’s IT Department and a global systems integrator to improve security infrastructure, which supports physical security operations, and is involved with the training and onboarding of new personnel.
Mike is deeply committed to community service. He’s served as a neighborhood association president, a member of the Board of Building Appeals for the City of Westlake, and is currently a Board Member of the Westlake Kiwanis Club. These roles reflect his long-standing dedication to fostering a safe, connected, and thriving community.
With decades of leadership, public service, and community engagement behind him, Mike is eager to bring his experience and values to Westlake City Council.
